Paramount is defined as "chief in importance or supreme" in Webster's Dictionary.  At Paramount Fitness and Training, clients choose to put themselves first.  The decision to take control of your personal fitness and well-being is very personal.  Your goals are within your reach!  Paramount will be with you each step of the way as you navigate the path to your goals.

Your time is precious, and I want you to make the most of it.  With the focus being on you, I utilize a variety of facilities in the Glendale, Kirkwood, and surrounding areas to make working out convenient and flexible.  Is that too far out for you?  Of course, I will also come to you!

Meet Torie

Torie Figura is the owner of Paramount Fitness. She created it to share her passion with others, and loves working with people to help them achieve their goals. I work with clients in the Kirkwood, Oakland, Glendale, Webster Groves, and surrounding areas.

Wanting something with more than just a 'gym' feel to it, I designed Paramount Fitness so that anyone would be able to work out, be pushed, and succeed without the intimidation and pressure that can be found in a typical gym setting.  Programs are built around my clients, with adjustments for everyone to be able to participate without interruption or having to sit something out.

Seven years ago, looking to make a lifestyle change, I took it upon myself and revamped my diet and started running again.  I found that it was hard holding myself accountable all of the time, challenging to push myself outside of my comfort zone, and lonely as I went it alone.  Having someone with me would have made the challenges less daunting.  All of that aside, I accomplished my goals and in doing so, found I was capable of more than I ever realized.  Embracing an active and healthy lifestyle has had a huge impact on my mind, body, and soul.

   

You don't need to go it alone.  With Paramount Fitness, you will be among others that are working hard to reach their goals.  The support and encouragement that comes from working out with others results in a more positive and enjoyable experience.  I have put in the work to get to where I am today, and I would love the opportunity to work with you along your own journey.

In addition to being a Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist, I am a mom to two very active children.  I am also a head coach for Girls on the Run and Let Me Run in the Kirkwood school district and am a licensed US Youth Soccer assistant coach for my daughter's select SLYSA soccer team.  In the past, I have coached youth basketball and CYC softball and soccer.  I am also knowledgeable in weight loss, nutrition, strength training, and injury prevention and recovery.  During the last six years, I have completed ten half-marathons, a biathlon, and the Chicago Marathon.  I tackled my first duathlon this past spring and absolutely loved the challenge!

Group Fitness Classes

 Do you like working out with more people, drawing on their encouragement to help push you further?  Afraid or intimidated by large groups at the local gym?  Are you a senior needing to improve your balance and overall strength?  Try one of Paramount's group fitness classes that are open to everyone and for all levels for a full-body workout.  The classes are non-intimidating, effective, and fun.  I'll be at your side working out with you as well.  Don't be afraid that the classes are too advanced - each of the exercises have adjustments to help you increase or decrease the intensity so that you are able to fully participate.

Whether you are looking to make a lifestyle change, need some extra motivation, are an avid athlete, or just looking for something new, you are invited to join me on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  Classes are offered in the mornings and evenings. Leave your stresses at the door, work at your own pace and level, and enjoy the encouragement of others as we grow together - physically and mentally.

After doing a handful of classes with Torie, I'm already seeing improvements in tone and strength! I love that she works the whole body and mixes up the exercises from class to class, providing modifications we can use if we need to step down the intensity. But I think what I love most is how I feel throughout the whole experience--I feel welcome, cared for, and never intimidated. Torie's passion for helping others stay fit flows naturally to all those who are blessed to be in her care...so grateful I'm one of them!

Giving Back

Giving Back

In August 2016, I lost my younger sister, Kelsey.  That fall, we were supposed to run a 5K together, but it wasn't meant to be.  I know she continues to be with me on my runs, and she showed me how important it is to live my life to the fullest as tomorrow isn't promised.  As a way to honor her memory, I was introduced to a group called I Run 4 (IR4).  IR4 is an organization that pairs people who run, walk, cycle, ski, do yoga, swim or anyone looking for a way to get active and healthy to those who have serious illnesses or special needs.    

​

I am on the waiting list to be paired up with my buddy, and with Paramount Fitness, I challenge and encourage you to check out this wonderful organization.  Whether you are looking for a buddy to run or be active for, or are unable to run and are looking for a runner to run for you, there is a place for you within the IR4 group.  I may not be able to run with my sister, but I can run in her memory and for those that are unable to get up and go.  

 

As stated on the IR4 site, it's about more than miles; it’s about building relationships and bolstering support systems.
